A card that says I miss you
Kindnotes is a card for the days you miss someone: a photograph on a polaroid or in a locket, a note in a real hand, and your voice at the end, sent as one link they open on their phone.
Missing someone is mostly small: their laugh in a room, the walk you used to take. The card is for those. Pick a photo from an ordinary day, not a posed one. Write about one thing you'd do together tonight if you could.
The voice note is a minute. Use it.
The design for it
The polaroid: a candid photo that develops as they scroll, a caption in marker, the note on the back. About the polaroid.
How it works
1. Pick the design
The envelope, the polaroid or the locket. Each one is drawn and animated by hand.
2. Write the note
It sets itself in a handwriting hand and fits the paper. A photo and a voice note if you like.
3. Send one link
It opens on any phone, no app and no account. You keep an edit link; changes go live on theirs.
What to write
Start with one specific thing. Four ways in:
- I walked past our place today and
- The thing I miss most is the boring part:
- Here is what you missed this week, in order:
- Come back soon. Specifically because
Questions
- Can they reply?
- Not inside the card. They will message you; that is the point.
- Can I send more than one?
- As many as you like. Each is its own link, kept forever.
- What if they're not a phone person?
- It opens on a computer too, in any browser.
